Insurance
✔️ From 1 October 2024, by decision of the Tanzanian authorities, foreigners planning to visit the island of Zanzibar by sea or air must have compulsory travel insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) to ensure protection during their stay (up to 92 days).

❗️IMPORTANT! Having other insurance does not exempt tourists from purchasing insurance offered by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation.
This requirement has been introduced to ensure the safety of all foreigners and reduce potential risks during travel.

* Failure to purchase the above policy may result in refusal of entry into Zanzibar.
Cost: $44 per adult.
Children aged 3 to 17 are eligible for a 50% discount on the standard price. Insurance for children under 2 years of age is free of charge.
The insurance premium can be paid by debit or credit card. The insurance does not have a grace period - the policy is valid from the moment you arrive in Zanzibar.
The policy documents will be sent to your registered email address. The insurance confirmation will contain a QR code, policy information such as the unique policy number, policy start date, benefits, conditions, limitations, exclusions and other important information.
The insurance covers:
emergency medical care
repatriation of the body, including in the event of death
accidents
legal and attorney fees
delay, theft, loss or damage to baggage (at the responsibility of the airline)
Due to the requirement to present the QR code before departure and upon arrival, you must have it with you at the airport and on the plane. Do not put the printed QR code in your checked baggage.
Georgian citizens can obtain a visa to Zanzibar either in advance or upon arrival.
Visa on arrival: cost - 50 USD
1. Valid foreign passport with a validity period of at least 6 months from the date of return
2. Completed questionnaire and migration card (issued at border crossing points). download questionnaire | download migration card 3. No photo required; border service officers will scan the photo from your passport upon arrival
4. Cost: 50 USD (payable on site in the currency of the country of destination, cash only / no change given!).
Upon arrival, tourists will need to go through customs control, fill out migration cards, have their fingerprints taken and get a stamp in their passport.
Tourists then proceed to baggage claim and exit the airport building.

Documents must be submitted at least 10 calendar days before the start of the trip.
✔️ Required documents:
- Passport with at least 2 blank pages and valid for at least 6 months after the end of the trip.
- Completed application form
- Scanned 4x6 cm photo (sample photo)
- Return flight ticket
- Paid visa fee
To obtain a visa, you must complete an application form and a migration card.
