From 01/08/2023, a new environmental conservation fee will be introduced for all visitors to the Seychelles.
The amount of the environmental tax in Seychelles does not depend on the “star rating” of the hotel, but only on its size. The larger the hotel, the higher the rate, the tax is collected from each tourist over 12 years old, per day.
☑️ small hotels (1-24 rooms) - 25 SCR (~2 USD)
☑️ mid-size hotels (25 – 50 rooms) - 75 SCR (~6 USD)
☑️ large hotels (51+ rooms, island resorts*, yachts) - 100 SCR (~8 USD)
* Island resorts refer to properties located on any island other than Mahe, Praslin, La Digue or Cerf.
⚠️ Please note: Children under 12, airline employees and Seychelles citizens are exempt from the fee.
By default, the fee is charged in Seychelles rupees and will be added directly to the customer's invoice at the hotel upon check-out, ensuring smooth and convenient payment. However, each hotel has the right to accept payments in other currencies, as well as to set the form of payment: non-cash, etc. In this case, the rate may differ from the official one.
