We would like to inform you about an important change in the tourism tax rate on Langkawi Island. According to the official announcement from Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi Bandaraya Pelancongan (MPL), effective 1 January 2025, the tax rate will change for all incoming visitors, including during major events on the island.
✅ Tourist tax rates:
- For 5-star hotels:
Current rate: MYR 10 per room per night.
During major events: MYR 20 per room per night.
- For 4-star hotels:
Current rate: MYR 5 per room per night.
During major events: MYR 10 per room per night.
- For 3-star hotels:
Current rate: MYR 3 per room per night.
During major events: MYR 6 per room per night.

- Cycling race Le Tour De Langkawi.
- Ironman Langkawi.
