These are high-class hotels and azure warm waters of the Persian Gulf

The United Arab Emirates is a very young state. But this does not prevent it from having a rich history , interesting cultural and natural attractions and developed infrastructure. The age of the first evidence of human presence in these territories is 120-130 thousand years. Autonomous emirates were formed in the 8th century. Then they were under the rule of the Portuguese and the British. And only in 1971 a federation was created, headed by the president. And during its existence, the state has shown an unprecedented speed of development. Cities of the future have grown here from the desert , and the country itself is full of attractions with the prefix "the most".

Such progressive growth was facilitated by oil production. But the country's government realized that the reserves of "black gold" are exhaustible. And invested in the development of tourism, which now brings high income to the UAE budget. With today's technology, you can find and select a tour to the Emirates online. • Fujairah - the main tourist attractions here are the beaches and mountains with picturesque gorges, green landscapes and mineral springs.
  • Sharjah is the cultural capital of the country. It is home to museums, galleries, theatres, traditional markets and more.

✔️  Climate and seasons

The country is located in the desert. The climate here is hot and humid at the same time. In summer, the air temperature can reach +45 °C, and the water temperature +35 °C. In winter, it is from +25 °C and from +17 °C, respectively. There is almost no precipitation, sometimes the wind brings sandstorms.

Despite the high temperature, the Emirates has its own ski resort — SkiDubai. This is an indoor complex with an area of approximately 22.5 thousand m². The temperature here is always between -1 and -6 °C.

✔️  Currency

The national currency is the dirham , which consists of 100 fils (an exchange unit used in many Arab countries). The dirham was put into circulation in 1973. It is better to take dollars with you and exchange them on the spot. The most favorable rate is in banks, in exchange offices and hotels it can be underestimated. Hotels, shopping malls and large stores accept payment by MasterCard, Visa, Diners Club, American Express.

✔️ Main holidays

The UAE has public, secular and religious holidays. They also hold various competitions and festivals. You can go on a tour, specially playing with the dates for the desired event. Below are the most interesting holidays for tourists.

  • At the end of November, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place – one of the most difficult stages of Formula 1. Also during this period, you can visit the festival “Rhythm of the Desert”, where the main principle is a mixture of different musical and dance styles.
  • On December 2, locals celebrate National Day . This date is considered the day of the UAE's foundation. They celebrate on a grand scale - they organize air shows and parades, concert venues operate, fireworks are launched into the sky and other activities are carried out.
  • Shopping lovers should go here in January, because at this time Dubai hosts the Shopping Festival . It is famous for its incredible sales and prize draws. Restaurants are not far behind shopping centers. Establishments present special menus, hold interesting events, culinary competitions, master classes. During this period, you can see colorful shows and performances of artists. If you are a gourmet, visit Dubai in February, when the Gastronomic Festival is held here.
  • Equestrian sports fans will be interested in the World Cup of Horse Racing , which is held in March in the Emirates. The prize fund of this competition is 10 million dollars.
  • In early April, connoisseurs of ancient culture can go to the Camel Festival . It is held to preserve ancient traditions. Camel racing, auctions, a beauty contest for camels - all these are attributes of this holiday.
  • Another favorite period for shopping fans is the beginning of June, when the Summer Festival of Surprises takes place . At this time, discounts are offered not only by shops, but also by hotels, cultural institutions, and others.

One of the most important holidays to know about is Ramadan . This is a month of fasting, when Muslims purify themselves and devote time to serving the Creator. During this period, they are not allowed to eat, drink, or even smoke until sunset. These rules do not apply to tourists. But in order not to offend local residents, you need to take these traditions into account when traveling to the Emirates and other Islamic countries. During the month of Ramadan, restaurants only operate in closed areas, hotels can change their schedule and rules for the operation of services, and tourists are not recommended to eat, drink, or even chew gum in front of Muslims.

✔️  Medicine

To see doctors for free, get medical insurance before your flight. Services in Emirates clinics are paid, so insurance is a must when traveling. If you do see a doctor on a paid basis, save all the details of the visit and tell your insurance company. In this case, you will be able to receive compensation.

✔️  Useful tips

The United Arab Emirates has strict rules, some of which are dictated by Islam. Therefore, in order to avoid unpleasant situations, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the important nuances of staying in this country.

  • It is important to pay attention to your appearance, especially outside the hotel. Elbows and knees must be covered. You can only wear swimwear on the beach or near the pool. Sunbathing naked or topless is also prohibited.
  • It is not recommended to show your feelings in public: hug, kiss, hold hands. It is also worth refraining from indecent gestures and dancing in public places. This is not welcomed and can even be fined.
  • In the Emirates, you can drink alcoholic beverages only in restaurants, hotels and designated places. Being drunk, drinking alcohol, and smoking in public places is strictly prohibited.
  • Photography should be done with caution, as photographing Muslims without permission can be considered an insult. In addition, it is forbidden to take photos of government institutions, military buildings, palaces, and mosque interiors. Photographing road accidents is also prohibited.
  • Make photocopies of your documents and carry them with you, as the police often check tourists.
  • Refusing an invitation to visit someone or even a cup of coffee is considered bad manners.
  • When buying something, try to bargain, even if the product has a price tag. In a taxi without a meter, you can also try to lower the price.

Another important note: if a tourist is under 21, he/she can only visit the country if accompanied by an adult (over 21). Without this condition, the guest may be denied entry into the country and accommodation at the hotel. The UAE has created all the conditions for tourists, so the trip here will be pleasant and memorable. All the rules and restrictions that are unfamiliar to us and may seem uncomfortable are part of the country's culture. Namely, traditions and national characteristics are the most interesting thing about traveling.
